This one just made me chuckle, so I had to share. Don't you just love when people talk thinking they can't be heard???
Since John McCain named Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, hers has been the most talked about name among political pundits both on and off the camera.
Today Wall Street Journal columnist and former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan and former John McCain adviser and MSNBC contributor Mike Murphy were unwittingly caught on tape expressing their true feelings about Gov. Sarah Palin and they were anything but positive.
Noonan called McCain’s choice of Palin “political bullshit,” while Murphy diminished the republican nominee’s choices by calling them "cynical" and "gimmicky." Meanwhile according to a transcript of the tape up on the Huffington Post, host and political commentator Chuck Todd concurred with Murphy’s assessment.
( And here’s the actual transcript: )

Attacks, praise stretch truth at GOP convention By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer Wed Sep 3, 11:48 PM ET
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth. ( The Story )

I am off this morning for a three day weekend. I had taken a couple of Fridays off hoping to do a local community theater production of Beauty and the Beast, but then I realized I was going to be out of town this Saturday night and that took care of that thought. However, I decided I would keep the extra days off. Who doesn't like a nice three day weekend once in awhile. So my plans for the weekend include: Friday night I think I am going to try and go to our local production of Beauty and the Beast. Saturday night I am going up to St. Paul to see Melissa Etheridge in concert. Sunday I am relaxing. :)
I went back to see the cardiologist yesterday and sure enough he put me on a blood pressure medication, Metoprolol. He didn't think my blood pressure was terribly bad, but we have to do something about it. :p He was nice and gave me the option of coming back to see him for the first couple of weeks of taking the med, or I could go back to me regular doctor. I told him, nothing personal, but I would go back to my regular doctor because those visits are covered totally by my insurance. He was nice and understood. He wanted me to go see him next week. So of course the next open time to see him is two weeks away. So I think I will start calling Monday and see if he has any cancellations. :)
I hope you all have a safe and happy weekend. I will hopefully see you all back here Monday night. :)

Hi Everybody, I have been off work for just over a week now dealing with some health issues. My blood pressure has been giving me troubles and the Clinic has been running me through a BUNCH of tests. Definitely not looking forward to those bills showing up. It better not mess up my vacation plans. Especially when the cardiologist says he expects some of them that he ordered to come back negative. Well, that's great, but is he going to pay for them then too? I have been feeling quite light headed since last Wednesday night. I have had blood work, urine tests, BP monitor test, chest xray, ECG, ECHO of my heart, ultrasound of my kidneys, and a cardiology consult. I haven't heard about the results from a couple of the tests yet, but so far everything is coming back negative. I was suppose to see the cardiology again on Tuesday, but his schedule has been changed and I don't go back until Thursday. I am hoping that they will get me on some BP meds and that will start to make me feel better. Last year, you may or may not remember, I was having trouble and feeling like my balance was not right. That is when we learned my BP was a little high. Well, now take that feeling and add light headedness to it and that is how I am feeling. I was finally able to get a decent days sleep Friday, so I thought I would try to come to work and see how it goes. So far it's mostly a dizzy feeling night. Not fun.
I hope that everyone else is doing okay? PLEASE let me know if I have missed anything special happening to you. I will be off now for the weekend, but I "should" be back to work Monday night.
Selfishly, I hope you will keep good thoughts for me to start feeling better. This sucks. :(
PS: I know I told some people that I would try to start sharing more about myself. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind though. :p

YAY it's finally Friday morning... That means I have a four day weekend to enjoy. Although there are plenty of things to keep me busy. Saturday July 12th is my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. You don't see a lot of those any more. Congratulations mom and dad. In sort of a tribute to my parents, my niece is having her wedding on July 12th. That is kind of sweet of her. They have planned several surprises for my parents too. One of which, although not entirely their work, was my brother and his family that live in Georgia came up for the wedding and anniversary. They are also having a special cake for my parents to cut after the bride and groom cut theirs. My mom is going to be so pissed in a happy way. lol...
So between the wedding, anniversary, and my brother coming up from Georgia, I thought it might be nice to have a couple more days off to enjoy it all. I will be back to work Tuesday night. I am not sure I will catch up with everybody's journals, so I hope if I miss anything special you will point it out to me when I come back. I also hope to catch up on some sleep. I haven't been getting much lately. I have gotten into a cycle of sleeping a couple hours and waking up. Thankfully, getting a little nap then before coming in to work. Today I woke up to the sound of the weather sirens going off. I was half awake, otherwise I usually sleep right through them. LOL... I got my little nap in, BUT I woke up about 30 minutes before I was suppose to be at work. Talk about moving fast. LoL... Threw my uniform on, grabbed my razor and toothpaste and flew out the door. I got to work about 1 minute before 11. Phew.....
So anyway, I hope you will all have a safe, happy weekend, and I look forward to "seeing" you all next week.
HUGS.....................

It's time for a little good news, bad news.
The bad news... My station at work is closing today/Friday and I am guessing it will probably be closed for at least 2 weeks. With that said, I don't know how much time I will have to be on the computer, so if I go missing for a few days at a time you will know that I am just lost some where in Mother Mayo's system. *help*
The good news... While I would prefer to be on my own station, this will get me away from my lovely coworkers for awhile.
Bad news Pt. 2... I am sure this means at least two weeks of babysitting confused patients. The part of this job I hate the worst.
Sounds like a good time to come down with a nasty Summertime cold. hehehe........

Crap, Crap, Crap...............
Friday morning after work I went for my daily walk. I was out for about an hour and heading for the home stretch when the bottom of my right foot started to get sore. By the time I had gotten home I worked up a really nice blister on the bottom of my foot. Needless to say, I don't think I will be doing much walking for awhile. Now I really wish I had invested in a bike earlier, aka when I had some extra cash laying around. I will really have to try to watch my intake for the time being. Anybody have and extra pool lying around that I could do a little resistance work in? :p I am going to stop at the store, or several in the morning and see what kind of things there are out there to cushion blisters.
I hope all are well and safe. We finally had a full day of sun shine and no rain. We haven't had the worst of the rain and flooding in my area, but we have had more than enough. Take care all, and have a great weekend. See you back here Monday night I hope. :)

Sad Fate Sealed for Caribbean Monk Seal
Last Friday the U.S. government declared that the Caribbean monk seal is endangered no more -- it's extinct. It was last sighted in 1952 and was put on the endangered species list in 1967 in the vain hope it would be rediscovered. Its extinction was driven by hunters of food, blubber, and skins as far back as 1494, when Columbus noted it was easy prey.
The Caribbean monk seal takes the title as the first seal species to go extinct solely due to human causes. Unfortunately, the endangered Hawaiian and Mediterranean monk seals could be the next to go. Both species are dwindling fast due to global warming, sea-level rise, and other factors. The monk seal's 4-percent annual decline has put it on a fast extinction trajectory unless something is done soon.

The truth shall be told. The last couple of weeks have been nothing but a slippery slope down for me. I basically stopped dieting, and did nothing but eat. I was too ashamed to admit it and get on the scale to tell you all. Now, I have gotten my act together and I am back on the right path. I am determined to see it through this time. I have started walking at home now too, not just on my breaks at work. I have even started to bring walk cloths with me to work so if the weather is bad in the morning, I will be heading over to the local mall to do my walking indoors. :)
And now of the bad news.....

Sad Goodbye to the Chinese White-handed Gibbon
The Chinese white-handed gibbon has been declared extinct. The remarkable ape roamed the forests of China's Yunnan province for many thousands of years before succumbing to the destruction of its forest home and uncontrolled hunting. It was last seen in 1988 and last heard in 1992. The extinction was declared by a Swiss scientific team that recently searched all Chinese forests where the subspecies was seen in the past 20 years. There's a faint hope, but no evidence, that it may be holding on in adjacent Burma (Myanmar).

It has been a couple of weeks now and I have failed miserably. I have reverted to all my old habits. Eat, eat, eat........
One of my nieces is getting married in July and that is also my mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary. I am also hoping to go to Las Vegas in September. Shouldn't all of that be enough to make me want to lose some weight. To say nothing of needing to lose the weight for health reasons. Now what from that list isn't enough to make me stick to a diet?

Well, I am back from jury duty, and I will try to catch up with everyone here. I don't promise to hit all the entries I missed. So if something special has happened or is going on, please let me know if I miss it. I ended up with five out of ten days worth of jury duty. Two cases. One was the traffic stop with the person giving a false name and then fleeing the police, last week. The second one was an assult case. A woman was accused of smashing a glass into a man's face at a bar and slicing his face open. Both were found guilty of all their accounts. In my opinion and a few other people on the jurys, both the prosecution and the defense didn't do really good jobs. As I said last week, I was the lone vote for not guilty originally, but was able to change my mind and vote guilty. The second trial, I was on board with guilty to start with but there were three other guys that were having a really hard time voting guilty. Even after really working it over in their minds and deciding to vote guilty, you could see it in their faces that it bothered them. I felt the same way the week before. When the judge was dismissing us from the second case, he told us he thought this would allow us to not serve again for 4 years. I don't know if it means we won't be called for 4 years or we don't have to serve if we don't want to. I am hoping it means we don't have to if we don't want to. I would like to do it again sometime and not wait for another 4 years. Of course it took me over 26 years this first time. LoL......... So now I am back to work. Well, for one night and then I am off for the weekend. LOL........ I hope you have all had a great week.

| Jury Duty.............. |
[26 Apr 2008|07:50am] |
I was called in on Wednesday for a jury selection process. It was for a case involving a man who was accused of giving a false name to the police at a traffic stop and then fleeing them in his car. I was one of the 13 selected for the jury. :) Kind of a lame case, but it was my first time and it was interesting going through the whole process. The trial didn't start until Thursday. The only witnesses called were the three police officers involved with the case. To be perfectly honest, I think the prosecution and the defense did a pretty lousy job. There was missing evidence on the polices behalf. It was brought up that the defendant had an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation. No objection from his attorney for being irrevalant to this case. He had gotten away from the police that night, but we never heard where he was eventually arrested and if he was found that easy for that why didn't they find him for his parole violation??? Two of the police officers failed to notice another police car at the scene. The first jury vote was like many old sitcoms you see, everyone voted guilty but one person. Can anybody guess who voted not guilty????? I eventually after some discussions was able to vote guilty using the definition of reasonable doubt. I could say guilty, but still have some doubts about it. I am not going to hold my breath that I will get called in again before the end of next week, but I will cross my fingers that I will get another chance. Once they call you out and you sit in that jury box, it really does put a whole different look on things.
So how was your week? :p

Well, I think we will call this week a relatively good one. I lost some weight and I am back to 0. That's not necessarily great, but I am out of the positive. Let's hope it makes it another week. Unfortunately, I think we need to give some credit this week to eating some out of date veggie dip. I had a really bad belly ache today. :(
