News - New Schemes

I'm loving the new scheme (Joels i'm presuming) but i'm finding with the drop down menu things (you can tell i don't know much about this stuff) that the links themselves can be hard to read due the things that just happen to be behind them. I think, instead of the drop down menu thingy's being semi-transparent, that they should be a solid colour so they can be clearly read.

Thank you for your comment. No the scheme is not Joels, it's mine. I'll remove the transparency now. Is the menu bar nicely aligned with the stripe across?

Oh right, well done for creating such a great scheme. It looks ok in Kazaa's browser, but it does take a while to load.

it shouldn't take longer to load. But the menu will only show up after images on the page have loaded, which is a problem for all dropdown menus, and maybe makes it feel that it takes longer to laod. I'm working on fixing that for the front page right now

i'm sure a lot of people will love it, but myself, i'm just going to stick to the normal ol layout until joel's new one goes up. :)

good job. like i said before, i love the speed, and it's reaction time is much better than say, ujournal's layout, or livejournal's.

though on my userinfo page ((just noticed this)) this thing for AIM NEVER loads. ever. so when i go to my info page, it loads, and i don't get navigation, so i'm stuck. >_>;;

It does load when I check your userinfo, it's just transparent when your're offline. Also a bit slow to load, maybe aol are very busy right now. Try to check again later

IE and Kazaa. I've taken my AIM screen name off so that the menu loads on my bio page.

I Think it was better the other way. otherwise when my mouses spazzes out on me all these menu's wouldn't drop down.

You can also try out the "Blue/White" scheme, where the menus will only drop down when you click on them

I think it would be cool do use this style but have it in a couple of different colours.

I don't know if you've noticed anything like this, but when i was on the closed requests page, other drop down boxes still show through the drop down menu.

I have a problem with my journal and I was wondering if it was because of the site changes. My friends' page hasn't showed any new entries for five days. I've tried reloading it several times, but nothing works. What do you think the problem is? ;\

The site design and your friends page have nothing to do with each other.

The latest post I see on your friends page is from 08 Apr 2004|08:15pm, and I see all your friends latest posts there. So it looks like nothing is wrong

i'm not a huge fan of the new scheme. i like having all my links on the side already there so i can just click on them and go.

so i shall be sticking to the original theme

The drop down menus don't work for me at ALL in Opera 7.23/Win 98. I just get a coloured bar, no text or anything. It was very troublesome until I figured out the site options switch.

I'm sorry to hear that. I thought they worked in all modern browsers.
I have put a link near the top, so people can switch scheme easily. Can you see it if you switch to the new scheme?

One of the reasons for having the new menus is to have room for more links. We now have a few special communities with good content, and there wasn't any room in the old navigation for links to them.
I will try to make them more compatible with Opera, though. I don't want to force people to use any specific browser.
