02:17 pm - Post Orientation Thoughts
Orientation is always the best time of the year for any University student. It's the only time where you don't worry about test, assignments or exams but worry about not having enough fun and making enough friends. To me, orientation is a hugely meaningful activity for seniors. It is the time for us to be mentors to incoming freshmen. It is the duty of seniors to give as much aid as possible to each and every freshman. The freshman's enjoyment, happiness and needs is above everything else. This means that even if you have to cancel or adjust your plans, you should do so, because freshman orientation is about what freshmen wants, not what we seniors think that they want. It's a very common mistake to plan and plan orientation activities that are not meaningful. I've observed that many activities are more about fun rather than orientation. Fun is definitely important, but not to the extent of taking over the importance of orientation. Somehow, it seems that fun has been accorded greater priority that orientation, and it's quite sad to have that happening.

Overall however, I think I've had quite a great orientation this year. Met alot of people and made a whole lot of friends. I think that my brain is struggling to cope with the storage of so many faces and their corresponding names. If I so happen not to be able to recall anyone's name, I'm really sorry. As a senior, I truly hope that what I've done has given you a great start to university life, and the biggest reward is to see all of your happy faces.

Back to readings, assignments, lectures, tutorials, tests and exams again. Darn.
