Out of the corner of her eye, Blaise saw half the school staring at Draco over the course of the day. She, however, had resolved not even to look at him in passing if she could help it. She was worried about him, but at this point her pride was deeply wounded and the seeds of anger were beginning to take root in her heart.
She was in Snape's office again between Arithmancy and dinner, and then she had hidden herself behind the curtains around her bed and studied for hours after Astronomy.
There was a tap at her window. She peeked out of her bed curtains, and saw Aquillo...Draco must have finally owled her. She jumped up and crossed the room quickly, opening the window and letting the eagle owl in.
But...there was no letter on his leg. Her heart sank. Aquillo was too competent to have lost a letter. No...the owl was just visiting her.
Draco hadn't sent him at all.
She absentmindedly stroked his soft feathers, finally letting two weeks of tears slide silently down her face.
