Fred hadn't been worried about his last trip to Hogwarts, not like George was anyway. George seemed to think they'd never be invited again, though Fred tried to tell him repeatedly that they hadn't done anything wrong. Yet, when he felt a sudden burning against his right thigh, he breathed a sigh of relief. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the coin. Same day as last week, he muttered to himself. He was about to yell for George when his favorite owl swooped down and dropped two letters in his lap: one addressed to both of them and one addressed just to George. He examined George’s owl momentarily, but decided against opening it. Instead, he read the own addressed to both of them. He grinned as he read his brother's words Awfully quiet?! To him, those two words were synonymous with boring. He chuckled to himself, carefully plotting his next attack on Hogwarts. It was then that he realized he had forgotten to give Peeves the package he had promised. He frowned and pulled out a fresh piece of parchment, hoping Peeves hadn’t needed the supplies too badly. He quickly finished the apology note and tracked down the package he had planned to give Peeves last Wednesday. He smiled as he tied the letter to Peeves, pleased that he had thought to use Pig. Certainly Ron wouldn't mind if he used Pig to OWL Peeves a little present... |

Draco had left potions early and was nowhere to be found at dinner. It wasn't very likely that he was in the hospital wing as he had a newfound hatered for Madame Pomfrey and her sadistic ways. He had taken to wandering again, though this time he remained indoors. His travels took him all throughout the castle and his mind raced with thoughts. The logical side of his brain told him he needed to get everything out. He wanted to get everything out, but that voice.. the voice that sounded so much like his Father told him to "suck it up". He could tell Blaise if he really wanted to. What was stopping him? Insecurity. He so often played the picture of one who was strong and independant. The cunning one who needed little 'help' from others. He didn't want to let her see his insecurities. He didn't want to let anyone see. So why now was he on his way to the library? His pride told him to stay away from the library, the voice told him to stay away from the library, even his logic said the library was a bad idea.. but somewhere deep inside of him, he felt compelled to meet her. His feet had involuntarily carried him through the library doors and to that darkened corner. His figure looming over the table as she looked up [yet again], but this time not to find an empty space. This time... he was there. |

Peeves had just recieved an owl, supplying him with oodles of goodies. He was more than pleased. His small 'vacation' from Hogwarts obviously needed to be put to an end. He figured that it was safe to come out of hiding now. He still couldn't understand why the whole of the school didn't seemed too impressed with his little re-decorating stunt. He sent a response back to his favourite pranksters, but did not use Pig to return it. Instead he had coaxed a rather fat school owl into carrying the letter for him. Pig on the other hand was sent back to Ron, weighed down with a small package.. and Peeves was sporting a lovely new feathered hat while Pig seemed to be balding... |

Sirius lay in the huge bed, snuggled amongst the blankets and pillows, having the most restful night's sleep he'd ever had since his return. He really would have to compliment the artist for making the bed so comfortable. Sirius felt like he could stay in there forever. In fact, after he had stayed up late last night, and his drinking binge over the weekend, Sirius's body was practically begging him to stay down. Everytime he got up to stretch, his body magically fell back down onto the mattress, pulling him into another twenty minutes of peaceful slumber. The sun that was shining through Hagrid's window told Sirius that the sun was past it's zenith and the rumbling in his stomach told him it was lunch time. In one final attempt the young man jumped out of bed and dashed away from it, keeping fair distance between him and temptation. He reached his arms overhead and released the tiredness that was lingering in his back and shoulders. He shook his head slightly and then headed toward the washroom, happy to finally be able to take a bath alone, without the hands of lusty mermaids stroking him all over. He let the water run over his face, closing his eyes as he felt each droplet falling onto his skin. Sirius summoned his bathrobe to him when he was through with his shower. He had become accustomed to using wandless magic within frame as well as practicing it out of frame. It was quickly reintegrating itself in his mind, becoming more and more innate to his everyday behavior. As he strode around each portrait in his bathrobe, his hair still dripping wet from the shower, Sirius thought of how, in a few days, all that lay around him could be gone. An uneasiness fell upon him suddenly. He had grown used living like this... how would he be... He couldn't think of it. He had to be optimistic, which should have been easy for the most happy-go-lucky member of The Marauders. He smiled as he remembered the look on Harry's face the night before...the excitement that had painted itself in his emerald-green eyes. He couldn't let him down... not now. He settled in his favorite chair, bathrobe and all, and began going through each spell he could remember within his mind. "Alright, let's start with a Banishing Charm..." he thought to himself as he resumed his task from the night before. |

Harry was the first person out of Transfiguration that afternoon. He was sick of sitting all day, if for no other reason than it made his back sore to sit without leaning against the back of the chair. At lunch time he had gone to see Madam Pomfrey for something for the bruises, but the salve she applied only accelerated the healing process, rather than skipping it entirely. He reached his destination, throwing his bag into the protected corner, and started it all over again.... An hour later, he was circling the teddy bear, now encircled by a liquid silver sphere. He cautiously poked a finger at the sphere, and it went straight through and brushed up against furry material. Harry pulled his hand back as if he had been shocked. After a moment, he put some distance between himself and the shielded bear and aimed a Stinging Hex at it....the orange beam hit the sphere...and then it absorbed it. Harry just stood there and blinked, despite the fact that this was what he was trying to achieve. After a minute, the sphere shuddered, fading in and out, and then disappeared. Taking a deep breath, he cast the shield on the bear again...and it went up in silver flames. He sighed. Obviously, this was still going to take a lot of work... |

Ron sat on the edge of his bed and looked from the parcel Peeves sent to Pig and back again, as confused as could be, trying to understand just what the hell was going on. He set the parchment wrapping aside on his bedside table, flung the bunny slipper to the middle of his bed, and placed poor bald Pig firmly on his shoulder. He stomped his way out of the dormitory, out of the Common Room, and all the way down to Hagrid's hut- muttering darkly all the way. The door creaked open and Ron looked up. "All right Hagrid?" he grabbed Pig in his fist and thrust him towards Hagrid without any further preamble. "Peeves. Can you help?" |

Sirius reflected on the night's events and thought it best not to dwell on them. What happened earlier was in the past and he couldn't take it back. All he could focus on now was the future and what he and Harry had planned. Sirius would have to keep practicing wandless magic until Harry too was ready. He focused his sights on the contents of Hagrid's hut. Fang lay on the floor next to the fireplace and Sirius's eyes sparkled with an idea. "Hey Fang... come over here for a bit..." The dog obeyed and walked slowly over to the frame. "Now I'm going to try something Fang... if it hurts, I'm sorry." The dog looked at him gingerly as he began to back away from the portrait. "Oh no you don't... I've got to practice!" Sirius concentrated his thoughts and thought to cast Stupefy upon Fang. Suddenly the dog stopped in his tracks, paralyzed from the effects of the spell. Sirius smiled and cast Enervate upon the dog, releasing him from the prison of his body. Fang walked away from the portrait hurriedly, afraid that Sirius would try to stun him again. Sirius smiled at his accomplishment, convinced that he could probably stun someone or something again at the mere thought of it. He really couldn't believe how much he had remembered in the past couple of days. It was as he told Harry earlier... his mind was flooded with the long lost skill of wandless magic and it was as if he had never forgotten how to do it. The skills became innate and his body, even as a portrait, was remembering how to do it as well. Sirius pressed against the canvas of the frame. A couple of more days... that's all he needed... just two more days. Then, he'd be ready. |
