Time:1:57 am.
When Harry got back to the sixth year boys' room, he found that he wasn't really tired at all. He changed for bed anyway and crawled under the covers, staring up at the ceiling.

He couldn't wait until after dinner the next night, when he could finally see the fruits of the efforts he had started the day Sirius came back. He hoped that Sirius would like the suprise as much as Hermione seemed to think he would. He hadn't even seen the things full-sized yet, so it would be a surprise to him as well.

Harry smiled to himself as he thought of the other directions their talk tomorrow might take. His godfather had a knack for being pushy, though deep down Harry suspected that it might be a good thing in the long run. Today was a perfect example...he had thought he was okay with the events of the previous evening when he set off to see Sirius, but after a good round of pacing and (loudly) talking things through, he had felt much better. Sometimes it was odd how well Sirius understood what was going on in his mind and how many similar things they had encountered with similar reactions.

Harry sighed, listening to the peaceful breathing of his roommates. Well, if he wasn't going to sleep, he might as well get in some practice. He closed his eyes, concentrating on blocking all emotions other than his anticipation of Sirius' reaction to his present tomorrow. After a few moments of focusing on this feeling alone, he gently let go of it. Next, he tried to block only that emotion...at this he was not as successful, because he had to think of the very emotion he was trying to block. After several minutes of effort, he felt he had at least partially succeeded. He let his thoughts drift and return to normal.

Finally, he decided to practice focusing on a spell. He didn't want to wake anyone up, so he didn't reach for his wand....he instead practiced the intent to cast the spell, simply holding out his hand above him as if he was using his wand. Breathing deeply, he concentrated on the word,
Lumos, as if it were a silent mantra. This state of mind that had seemed so odd the first time he tried it was now becoming fairly natural, and he was about to leave off his practice for the night when he saw something that made him gasp and lose his focus....

Well, that was quick, he thought to himself, stunned. How on earth did I do that?

Time:3:03 am.
Blaise slowly opened her eyes. It was dark...and this was not her bed.

What the hell am I doing back here, she thought to herself as she looked around the hospital wing, and then it all came flooding back to her...Potions, Peeves, pandemonium...her head was beginning to throb again.

Cursing to herself so fluently that even Snape would have been forced to take ten points from Slytherin, Blaise rolled over and firmly shut her eyes, determined to sleep enough so that she could wake up in the morning and leave that wretched hospital bed for good.

Music:Gryffindors cooing. Bleah..
Blaise rolled her eyes in the direction of her two fellow inmates. The ickle Gryffindors seemed to be very fond of each other...Blaise could barely resist the urge to find things to throw at them. She settled for glaring at them nastily until Pomfrey closed the curtain between her bed and Weasley's.

Blaise was becoming quite worried...had Draco even gotten her owl? She began to hum to herself in a minor key, hoping to annoy the two other patients.

*Sirius moved swiftly through the portraits as he headed back down to Hagrid's hut. He had just had one of the most wonderful evenings with his godson and the happiness from that was pulsing through his veins. As he settled into his usual frame, he noticed Pig fluttering about excitedly around the canvas. The owl held the post in front of the canvas so that Sirius could read it.

Owl from Tonks )

Sirius's brow furrowed as he began to dictate to Pig his post to Harry.

Owl to Harry )

With that he vanished from the frame.

Subject:in the hospital wing...
Time:11:26 pm.
Mood:drained.
As Ginny opened her eyes from a nap in the hospital wing, she saw Blaise in the bed next to her. Slightly confused, she rolled over and saw Dean in the bed on the other side. She gasped and sat up, fearing that something awful had happened to him. She whispered his name, and he roused. He immediately asked how she was, and told her that she should lie back down lest she hurt herself. Even after she insisted she was fine, he wouldn't give up until she did as he asked. While they were lying on their sides in their beds, talking, him telling her of how he passed out and would be spending the next couple days right there next to her through no fault of his own (not that he minded), he asked her again how she was feeling. He was so sincere. For the first time, she saw clearly in his eyes that he really did care for her. She sighed happily, and they continued talking until Madame Pomfrey came in and told them that they should all get some sleep.
