Hermione smiled slightly and sat down next to Harry and across from Ron. She wasn't sure where to begin about her eventful day.

"Actually, this is the first time we've seen Ron since we got here." She looked over at Harry, who was reading a menu as though it was the best novel on earth, and she felt her own stomach rumble in response. "We were just finding out what Ron did with his day, actually... Do fill us in, Ron."

"A Howler... from that girl we ran into the other day? How awful Ron..."

Susan began fidgeting with her napkin. She felt bad that Ron had treated the girl that way, but she didn't think he deserved a Howler. And she was a little bit happy that maybe one of Ron's admirers would be out of the way for her...

No! What was she thinking, Ron wasn't that type of guy. Besides, she was too shy to do anything about. She let out a slight sigh and turned her attention to Hermione.

"So... what did you buy yesterday Hermione?"

Hermione smiled at Susan. She was so sweet. And every thought she was having was so plain to see on her face. Well, at least to her. She thought perhaps it would take a sledgehammer for Ron to notice.

"I bought a chain," Hermione said in response to her question. She leaned across the table to show Susan the fine strand that was around her neck. "Harry came with me to oversee the operation, but now he's complaining that he thinks the clasp is too small..." She shot a playful look at Harry before turning back to Susan. "So...you, Sophie and Hannah did some shopping of your own, I gather?"

	Hermione stuck her tongue out at Harry, catching his look, and then lost interest in teasing him when the waitress finally brought their food. As soon as she set the plates down in front of them, Hermione was off in her own little world, happily munching away and not saying another word for quite a long time. (Reply to this) (Parent)

"Oh yes, Sophie, Hannah and I bought some clothes at Gladrags and then I think Sophie had to buy some new robes. I got the cutest pair of jeans too, I'll have to show them to you. Totally trendy."

Susan eyed the golden chain as a smile ran across her face.

"Oh Hermione... it's beautiful. It must have cost a pretty galleon to get that."

Susan cocked her head to the side slightly as she noticed the golden ring which was hanging from it. She shot Hermione a small smile and then looked at Harry. Her smile suddenly turned into a smirk.

"And WHO pray tell gave you that ring Miss Hermione? It's simply divine and not some cheap thing one buys at the corner store."

Hermione blushed deeply for some inexplicable reason. "Well, yes, it was a little on the expensive side, but it's worth it. And the ring..." She faltered slightly. Maybe wearing this out in the open wasn't such a good idea...everyone kept asking, and she was getting the feeling that people had the wrong idea about where it had come from or what it represented. She cleared her throat and looked at Susan meaningfully.

"The ring is from a friend. It's...it's a talisman of sorts." She smiled slightly. "It is beautiful, isn't it?"

"A talisman? Oh like what Professor Canis talked about in class? Well that's awfully nice of someone to give that to you. It must be good luck."

Susan smiled at her friend just as the food was being delivered. She quickly took a bite from her chips and sandwich before continuing on.

"You know I was thinking of making a talisman for myself. I've been trying to practice those spells that Professor Canis gave us but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right."

Hermione looked thoughtful. "I spoke to Ginny before we left to come here. I know she'd planned to meet Dean...well, I assume that's why she was being so particular about her clothes..." She smiled. She knew she shouldn't say much more, because the subject generally drove Ron crazy. "On a different note, Ron... Harry and I ran into Fred and George. I'm wondering if Geroge might not swing by here in a while. He seems pretty upset with Fred, come to think of it."

Harry nodded slightly, though he was obviously more concerned with the food that had not yet arrived. "We learned, among other things, that Fred has a girlfriend, and George either doesn't like her or resents her for keeping Fred busy so much of the time. I wan't quite clear on the reasoning."
