Draco sighed heavily as he pulled on a navy coloured button down shirt. He didn't really want to go to Hogsmeade, but he had promised Blaise he'd go with her, and he wasn't one to break a promise. Especially after what he'd been putting her through these past weeks. He felt awful about the way he'd been ignoring her.

For the first time in a while he turned to his full length mirror and gazed at his form, frowing as he buttoned all but the top three buttons of the shirt. He was still wearing the serpent charm he'd recieved earlier in the week and it was quite visible.

He bit his lip and shook his head, then turned to leave the dorm, heading to the steps to the Great Hall where he was to meet Blaise.

Blaise was waiting on the steps to the Great Hall, her hands busy straightening the hem of her dark green cashmere pullover obsessively. She looked up as she heard footsteps approach, and her eyes softened slightly when she saw him.

"Draco," she said softly as he reached her, a slight smile on her lips.

He smiled as he heard her voice. Despite his desire to be alone this past week, he truly had missed her. He paused a few feet away, feeling a bit awkward after not having seen her in so long.

Finally, he came forward to stand next to her. He was looking at his feet, feeling rather ashamed of having been so rude to her as of late.

"Blaise."

There was an awkward silence as both of them stood there, staring at the ground.

"Shall we go, then," she finally asked, her tone tentative.

He took a deep breath before responding.

"Er, yes.. let's."

Again, he was chewing on his lip and even though he raised his head, his eyes were still looking downwards. Finally he spoke something of substance.

"Look, Blaise.. I- I'm so incredibly sorry about my actions as of late and.."

He trailed off, looking to her face to gauge her reaction

Blaise looked up into Draco's eyes, her expression a map of conflicting emotions.

"I..." There was so much she had to say, but each thought was fighting with the others to get out, and she looked away again, her lips pressed together in silence.

He sighed heavily and looked to the ground and again before speaking.

"Perhaps we should just get out to Hogsmeade and talk later then. Do you have any preference as to where we go first?"

"No...it really doesn't matter to me," she said, looking back at him. "Let's just walk and see where we end up."

She took his hand and started to walk toward the doors to the castle.

He glanced to their hands as he began to walk with her, smiling halfheartedly. He gave her hand a little squeeze in a small attempt to express what words could not at the moment.

Inwardly he was cursing himself for being so stupid since he'd returned. Why had he gone and ignored her like that? How incredibly dumb of him. He shouldn't have acted the way he did.. he shouldn't have been so nasty towards her.

Blaise squeezed Draco's hand back, glancing at him sideways. Her heart was beating very quickly. After three weeks, here they were...

They walked silently along the path to Hogsmeade. Blaise bit her lip as they neared High Street and the crowds of students.

Draco frowned slightly as they entered the huge swarm of people. Generally he wasn't particularly fond of large groups of people. Especially as of late. He frowned slightly as they made their way around large groups of students and storefront displays.

"Were you hungry? We could head to the Three Broomsticks.. or.."

He looked to her with a questioning expression.

"Okay," she said, looking around and feeling out of place amongst the joyful groups of students. Draco seemed to be feeling the same way from the expression on his face. "It's early still, so it's not likely to be crowed yet."

"I certainly hope so."

He nodded and led her through the crowd, practically having to push his way through some groups. Finally they reached the Three Broomsticks.

Draco let go of her hand before pulling open the door, for Blaise to enter first.

Blaise entered the Three Broomsticks followed by Draco. It was still fairly empty, and they found a table in a quiet corner and sat down.

She looked up at Draco for a clue of what to say or do next.
"So..." Blaise said uncertainly.

He glanced to the side before looking at her, trying to determine just what he wanted to say.

"Blaise.. I-" He frowned "I hope you can forgive my behaviour. Ever since.." A small pause. "ever since I recieved word from my Father things have been, well.. a bit less than desirable."

She looked at him, her eyes troubled as she decided between the different responses that came to mind.

"I...I think I can forgive you," she said, looking down at the table, "but..." She sighed, unsure of exactly how to phrase this part. "I just wanted to help you, and then you..."

Her brow furrowed and she looked up at him, pained. She both wanted to let him know exactly how much he had hurt her and didn't want him to know he had hurt her that badly.

He frowned again, looking down at his hands.

"My trip to the Manor was less than a pleasant experience. I guess.. well, no, it's rather obvious that the impact of the expreience was a bit more than I expected."

She reached across the table and put her hand on his arm. Blaise looked at him with soft yet concerned eyes.

"I've been worried about you...it's been driving me crazy, to tell the truth," she said. "Are things...going to be okay?"

He let out a small sigh and smiled slightly.

"I hope so. I mean, at least for the time being I think everything is slowly coming back into order."

His head rose and his eyes slowly came to meet hers.

"I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am for everything, Blaise."

She gazed back into his eyes for a long moment before responding.

"I forgive you," she said softly. She paused, and when she continued her voice was almost a whisper. "I missed you, Draco."

He smiled softly, glad to finally see her again.

"I honestly don't know what I was thinking. In fact, I wasn't really thinking at all. I shouldn't have treated you like that.. I shouldn't have."

He frowned at himself and shook his head.

"I've been incredibly stupid as of late. It's a wonder you're still talking to me."

Blaise smiled at him. She could almost feel the potion working inside her--not to mention the effect that just being near him had on her--but for once she didn't care. She was postive that she would feel nearly the same without it, even if a small part of her thought she might be giving in too easily after all that had happened.

"Yes, it is a wonder," she said, her smile half-changing for a moment into a playful smirk, "but for some reason I still am. I guess I'm just stubborn about some things if they're worth having."

He smiled, his eyes returning to her face after having been fixed upon his hands for a while.

"I have something for you..."

It was his turn to smirk as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box tied in a green ribbon with silver trim. He was holding it just out of her reach.

Her eyes lit up. "Ooo, a present," she said, noticing that it was out of her reach. "It would be rather unladylike for me to tackle you across the table to get it."

She pretended to pout and held out her hand.

He raised his brows and drew his lips together as if he were thinking upon whether or not he'd actually give it to her.

"Well, I don't know..."

He moved the hand with the present in it a bit closer but still not quite far enough for her to reach it.

"I think I might enjoy being tackled."

He smirked.

His smirk grew into a grin as he handed her the box.

"How about you tackle me later even if you don't like what's in the box?"

A single brow rose as he watched her eagerly take the box from his hand. She would soon find out that the present "> within was wrapped in a green silk handkerchief.

Blaise smiled and impatiently tore open the box to reveal the dragon pendant.

"Oh, Draco," she said, holding it up to look at it, "I love it! Put it on for me, will you, darling?" She bounced over to the other side of the table and sat on his lap, handing the necklace to him and holding up her hair.

His face was alight with happiness. He hadn't felt this good for a while.

He took the necklace from her, placed it around her neck and fumbled with the latch a moment before it was successfully hooked.

After accomplishing this small task he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder.

"I truly do not know what I've been thinking ever since I've returned. I'm a fool for acting the way I have."

She smiled at him and turned her head to kiss his temple, her hand coming up to finger the pendant. It rested just below the hollow in her throat above her collarbone. She sighed contentedly, unable to think coherently about anything but his arms wrapped around her and his chin on her shoulder.

"Well, you're here now, and I quite like your thinking at the moment," she said, gazing at him happily.

"Well, let's not do that again, then," she said, and then tilted her head to kiss him softly. She suddenly and accutely felt how much she had missed the taste of his lips as she pulled away from him, gazing deep into his eyes.

"So, what are we going to do this afternoon?"

It took him a moment to regester her question, for his mind was still lingering on the kiss. He felt he could have kissed her forever.

"Hmm.. oh. You know, I really don't care what we do or where we go, just so long as you're by my side. Is there anywhere in particular you had wanted to go?"

"No," she said, smiling slightly. "There isn't really anywhere I really want to go."

The Three Broomstick was now beginning to fill up with Hogwarts students as they drifted in after their first spurt of shopping.

Blaise leaned in closer to Draco's ear.
"You know," she said in a low voice, "we could always go back to the school..."

"Lead the way and I shall follow."

"Excellent," she said, matching his smirk.

Blaise stood up and took Draco's hand, leading him out of the pub and back onto High Street. They returned to Hogwarts, talking and laughing on the way.
